Join the 2017 Bay Area Human Race

This year, Lifehouse will participate in the Bay Area Human Race, a nationwide community fundraising event hosted by CVNL, the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership. This 5K race/walk event will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Marin County Fairgrounds and Lagoon Park. Our board members, staff, people we serve, and loyal supporters will be out, rain or shine, representing Lifehouse.

Since 1982, the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) has hosted the Human Race as a critical fundraising vehicle for nonprofits and as an advocacy tool and community-building event. The Human Race has raised over $7.7 million dollars in the past 34 years for over 2,000 local non-profits. There will be many activities for the family: 5K run/walk, dog walk, kids races, live music, pancake breakfast, and a community village.

Lifehouse aims to raise $20,000 to continue to fund the programs that we provide for the people we serve. There are many ways to become involved.

We appreciate your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you on race day!

Take the Being Seen Challenge

Being Seen Challenge

Being Seen offers unique access into the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and the people who support their independent living. Individuals were asked to reflect upon their own disabilities, and the outcome was an unexpected eye-opener.

Following the early success of the film, Paul Zehrer and Chikara Motomura have now launched the campaign, Being Seen Challenge. “My hope is that, in some small way, this film offers viewers an opportunity to get beyond the ‘otherness’ that separates us and opens [viewers] to a more expansive insight of people with developmental disabilities”. – Paul Zehrer, Producer/Director

Lifehouse Documentary Awarded a Telly

Lifehouse Awarded TellyThe Telly Awards has named PotentialSF a Social Issues Category Bronze winner in the 37th Annual Telly Awards for their piece entitled “Lifehouse”. With over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.

The film is a window into the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and the people who support their independent living. The film explores many difficult questions they and their families must grapple with, while underscoring that, despite their disabilities, these people possess a vast range of emotional, intellectual, and artistic abilities.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video, and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “PotentialSF’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Silver Telly, our highest honor. Approximately 25% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly.

Congratulations to Paul Zehrer and Chikara Motomura from PotentialSF for their beautiful work and support to Lifehouse Agency!

Tis the Season…

During this holiday season, our thoughts and well wishes turn gratefully to our friends in the community who have brought warmth and good cheer to our residents.  We thank you, and best wishes for a happy holiday.
